Artificial Inteligence Dilemma

The age of AI has suddenly become a reality for us. It wasn’t so before October 5th. It wasn’t even a thing in our consciousness. Maybe we saw an ad here or there, or a nice post in FB about an old couple suddenly dancing when their old photograph was transformed by AI. But Rocky, Jac’s best friend, died and Jac could not concentrate on work and decided to take a look at this thing he subscribe without wanting, really.

He was looking for music for a movie, long story, when he came across a platform that offered a $19 per month subscription that offered him copyright free music, all kinds of music. He hit pay and what he got was the notification that he just paid $192 for a whole year. He was pissed and frustrated. So, he went after what he was looking for, now a more expensive proposition. He got the music he wanted and didn’t think any more about that unexpected expense. Later on, that day in October 6th, he began exploring the source of his frustration and discovered the ever growing and incredibly frustrating world of AI!

Here the first part of this story, that will probably become a series. A very interesting series.

bakerboy I did NOT want to drag the AI videos from your above post here. But kudos to the creator !! I see elements of Spartacus in them and they look very good. Unfortunately since AI does NOT allow nudity or sex the use of AI is limited. The sound is also very ” dodgy”. Once it changes there will not be a need for ” live” production. This is what we are trying to do, but so far without success.

Jac is the creator and he has been playing with AI a few times a day. There’s a very funny experience he has these days. He creates a scene but once generated he doesn’t like the results, so he repeats the process changing a bit of the prompt and then he gets a better result. It’s very much like shooting a scene when he shoots take 1, he’s not happy, he repeats the scene for take 2, he’s not happy yet, then take 3... and finally, he gets what he wants.

The difference is that every take in a production takes time… and money. The clock is ticking, the cost is adding. With AI, while the program generates the shot, Jac works in his editing, or reading, or whatever else he needs to do.

There’s an anecdote he can relate to. When the film Let’s Make Love was made, the famous film with Marylin Monroe, the producers were looking at the dailies, and they saw that one particular scene in a dancing number had 49 takes! Hugely expensive. They demanded to know why, specially since they didn’t see any difference in all of those 49 takes.

I bring that up because with AI Jac could make a film in a couple of days instead of a couple of months, at no cost. But he doesn’t believe that will ever be possible, ever. It works very well for some promo materials, something like that. And he doesn’t think that it is something he would want to do. He loves producing the films with a cast, a crew, locations, where he has to deal with the difficulties with creativity.

RedOrc I am sorry to hear of the death of Rocky. Pets are the best, as their love is non-conditional.

Thank you. I’ll pass the message to Jac. Rocky rest on his desk, next to the large screen he has his eyes fixed on every day. And he lives in his heart and mind.

He still walks him in the mornings and afternoons, he takes him, in spirit, to all of his favorite grounds, to visit his friends, those dogs and cats he frequently visited during those walks. He does that because he needs those walks.

The AI clip was fascinating with how realistic it was. It was funny how the characters were different from shot to shot. The Priestess Ide was totally changed every time she appeared!

Jac encountered that basic problem in his first experience with AI. When creating a scene the program did not reproduce the looks of the people in the next scene, not even the backgrounds. AI generated an image that sometimes was nice, sometimes was idiotic, but most of the time was frustrating.

Jac heard or read about another program that supposedly can create clips with the same characters and maybe even with nudity. What he is using does not work with nudity but sometimes it does. Maybe AI wants to play games with Jac.

But then he discovered that he can create scenes using images of the characters he wants to use. Like in the video up there. That was a game changer.

Jac’s most recent work with AI has shown some excellent results which at the same time gave way for a flood of ideas. He came to the conclusion that a combination of all the technology available now can make the production of Big Production Values films easier. Imagine using real live action, like the arrest of the Runaway Slave, in a market full of people, or imagine The Priestess in a great looking temple. I think that’s what Jac will be experimenting in the near future. As a matter of fact, this week he’ll be shooting some Green Screen scenes which later he’ll use with some amazing backgrounds, like he did already with Ligia and Dani.

He’s not only working on Crucified Four possibilities, but also for other films, like La Femme De Chambre where Dani, Mila, Ligia, Simonne go back to that world before the French Revolution and bring all those wonderful stories our highly esteemed Marquis De Sade wrote.

I will continue with this fascinating story in future posts. If this series becomes as huge as I think it will become, it will be up, in its complete version, up in our streaming channel.
We’re setting up a new bunch for films to upload this month. In the meantime, you can watch all those films already there.
