Ranking Our Films In 2018

Number One in 2018: JUSTINE

Another year is gone, we’re all a bit older, wiser, and in our case, with more to show. I will be posting the results of how our films did last year, one at a time.

JUSTINE was directed by Jac Avila and stars Amy as Justine, Mila as Rosalie, Bea as Omphale and Jac himself as Rodin. It was released in 2016 to controversial reviews at the GIMP but with great reviews elsewhere, it quickly took the spot of Number One for that year. It was Number two in 2017. The production of JUSTINE was completed in December of 2015 and it turned out to be the last film Amy worked as a leading actress and producer. She left for the US only hours after the last scene was shot.

The Story

Innocent Justine tries to preserve her honor but endures extreme torture and violation at the sadistic hands of the Marquis de Sade’s disciples of pain, pleasure and sexual deviance, while her sister Juliette thrives in a life of murder and total debauchery.

In this latest post-modernist rendering of de Sade’s classic novel, Justine’s steadfast faith and naive trust enslave her in a number of perverse practices illustrating that virtue is no match for vic

Amy’s talent is on full display again in Justine. Undoubtedly her interpretation of the suffering feminine is hard on her body and eventually she will decide enough is enough. So if watching Amy on-screen is your pleasure, be sure to get a copy of this film. (…) the movie’s most dynamic image, the restrained and punished woman, surpasses other Jac Avila creations with the possible exception of Maleficarum. Amy, Mila, and Bea are easy on the eyes and offer the visual delights of a good whipping that S&M aficionados appreciate. But that’s for just for starters. There’s more.

Famed horror writer and sometimes critic C Dean Andersson wrote:

Jac Avila has created a definitive film version of the Marquis DeSade’s JUSTINE. The film, based on DeSade’s famous novel about the misfortunes of virtue, is in my opinion true to the book’s spirit and content in a way no other version has ever been.
