The show is on! Maleficarum is having a big premiere after all and it will be playing in three cities and four screens beginning May 10th. Our official banner, see below, is on display at the theaters now, and the trailer is running. This is so huge for us.

We also got official word from the authorities that rate movies here. Maleficarum is rated R. Yes, R, not X, not XXX, not banned…. no.. just a simple “Mayores de 18 años” The equivalent of R in these parts.

We begin our press campaign now. We have interviews scheduled on TV, radio and newspapers… Exciting? Yes!.

There are comments all over the place and I’ll be posting some of them here, like the one below:

When Witches Burn

I remember a few years ago I saw something terrifying, a beaten young woman, her beauty replaced by a series of cuts and bruises, watches in terror as some villagers prepare the pyre where she’ll be executed under the sentence of witchcraft.

She’s taken out of a poultry yard where she was kept and she’s taken to a stake where moments later a sweaty executioner will light a fire in cold blood as if he was lighting a cigarette.  Moments later the witch burns, in reality what burns first is her hair, later the fire takes over the rest of her. This scene belongs to a movie about the inquisition the title of which I don’t even want to remember.

It was interesting to hear from the people who rated the film that they don’t know what the problem with the Cinemateca was. “Maleficarum is a great movie” their words.

The theatrical version of the film is a bit different from the version we released to our fans around the world. It’s a bit shorter and it has a different rhythm. But it’s not censored at all. It can’t be… but it’s a bit different. Jac is also cutting a special version of the roasting scene for Ralphus.

We didn’t expect any of what’s happening to this film, really. It’s more than we could’ve hope for it. Still, the attacks will come in the form of angry reviews, of that we’re sure and we’re ready for it.

I’ll have a lot to say after the premiere, I’m sure.

Meanwhile, our new production is on hold until the middle of May. It’s coming along splendidly.

Terrific post again Margot. Could you please elaborate on the Dead But Dreaming I, II and III sequence movies, as to why and are II and or III going to follow storyline of one character (vampire) or different characters (vampires) in each movie? Also when is DBD I scheduled to be finished and released? No hurry to respond. Thank you. Bill K.

Bill K.

The story in Dead But Dreaming is very complex and one movie is not enough to bring this epic to light. It also has a great potential to go on as these characters can actually live forever and ever, like Monsieur Dracula himself. The main characters will go on into DBD II and even DBD III, but there will be new characters coming in and out as well. There’s plenty of GIMP in the first two movies and I’m sure there will be plenty on a third one if it happens.

The production of Dead But Dreaming I is in the can. It’s already in post. We want to release this movie as soon as it is possible but not before we release Les Marquis de la Croix and Barbazul. We might release Dead But D I early next year with great fanfare. We’ll have a theatrical release first.

And one piece of news. Amy is working on her script for her next movie, I can say that it has a big BATS scene in it. And now that we have the experience, after Maleficarum, we’ll do it bigger than before. I had a glimpse of the scene on paper and it sounds truly epic.

You can read what she has to say about that here:

Vampires

As I’ve been finishing up the script for my next movie, Olalla, I’ve been thinking a lot about vampires. Mostly since my next movie involves vampires and we just wrapped on another movie about vampires, Dead But Dreaming, and we’ll be shooting the second movie in that series soon as well.

And just a reminder that we have a new release in our stores, the 8th segment of the Via Crucis of Camille movies. Someone calls them “crux events” and many other great Red Feline movies, one of which I happen to see a few days ago when I was going over material and it was amazing to see it on a very large screen in all its glory, I’m talking about Romana Crucifixa Est.

Having made my post yesterday, it occurred to me that I had failed to discuss the issue that had prompted me to contact the forum in the first place. A consequence, perhaps, of that ‘twilight’ that I had mentioned!
Ms. Hesketh has drawn attention to the suggestion that ‘modern career women wish to be submissive and spanked’. I have to assert that Ms. H. was reporting an item on the internet. I should properly say that I have no knowledge as to whether she supports or sympathizes with such a view!

Richard

Amy might respond to this comment on women in power who like to be spanked… What I can contribute is this: Amy herself is a woman that holds power, she’s a producer, has very high responsibilities in the company, has to make decisions daily… so, I can say that she goes through a lot of stress… the same as Jac or even more. She might agree that one way of relaxing is letting someone else take over … completely. Yes, I know, consensual stuff is not what this forum is all about… but life is life, fantasy is fantasy. Right?
