A Post Before Going Into Production

Amy posted the link to the long and intriguing interview in SearchMyTrash.com. Jac was a bit hesitant to give away too much, but after careful consideration he decided to give the one piece of information he hadn’t talk about yet. He revealed that Dead But Dreaming is a very gimpy and sexy vampire story.

It wasn’t easy for him to do that simple little thing, to tell what’s the story about.

It was easy to say, for instance, Maleficarum is about the inquisition. Or Barbazul is about Barbazul… but… Dead But Dreaming? It’s about a beautiful vampire or two.

This is a film Jac wanted to make a long time ago, a very, very long time ago and the beauty of it is that he can do anything he wants with it, gimpy from all ages … or at least some. He can have primitives doing nasty things, or some horrible moment for a nice slave in 57 bc and you can all guess what the nasty moment is. And then the 1800’s with their love for public humiliation and executions, so, what about throwing some Gestapo scene to the mix and to top it all Latin American dictators who, everyone knows, love their torture.

Yes, that’s what Dead But Dreaming is all about. GIMP through the ages in one (or two) amazing movies.

Vampires are sexy and with a good story, very GIMPY. Right?

There are some very substantial differences from other vampire stories. For one, these vampires are not afraid of the light. They can be vulnerable and they can be powerful. But fear not, the GIMP happens to women who are not vampires. Well, it happens to a vampire or two as well, but mostly to not-dead people…. women, that is.

We’re going back into production next week. This means that we won’t have time to do other things like posting frequently.

Amy Hesketh: Great to finally see you back here and detailing all the tortures you’ve been going through lately. The fact that you suffer for your art is one of the many reasons why the guys love you here. And what a whirlwind, going from being a victim on one day to a hot-shot director getting honored the next, huh? What you should have done was show the audience in New York the fresh scars from your shoot. That would have blown their minds.
Thanks for the link to Jac’s interview, too. It was a good read. So Dead But Dreaming is a vampire flick? That tidbit just instantly made it marketable. Vampires are hot hot hot these days. You could even get away with including the rape and torture and it would still sell.
