Location Location Location

Not long ago, but before all the frenzy for Pygmalion, Jac took a trip to the location for Seditiosa, a solo act except for the hired driver who took the long road, a back road, through areas that Jac didn’t know. The famed director was annoyed for most of the trip to the terrain where he plans to bring havoc to three beautiful ladies. The car journey took about 45 minutes, because of the driver’s unfamiliarity with the city. Jac became acutely aware that the poor fellow was not a paceño (from La Paz), his accent betrayed him.

When they finally arrived to the Alkamari Eco Resort Jac was relieved. His friend Miguel, the owner, was there, big hugs, and then off he went to talk to Miguel’s ex wife, who is the manager of the place. She was very please to see him, they talked about different things and then Jac explained to his hostess what he needs. She was very impressed with the film idea, the Femenine Christ. She said it gave her goose bumps. A good sign.

Then the lady mentioned her daughter, who is in college in NY, who saw what Jac did in that place back in 2013, a great scene in Dead But Dreaming, Mila’s Crucifixion. The daughter was amazed with that work, and would’ve love to be part of it. Jac mentioned that he needed more people for the new film. Carmen, that’s the manager’s name, said I’ll talk to her, she might come for this“. The daughter is 25 and a poet.

The subject of poetry came into the conversation, when Carmen mentioned that her daughter wrote something related to spaces, the poetry of spaces, and in the young woman’s case, the claustrophobic spaces in NYC, the tiny, closet size apartments, high price tiny apartments.

The poetry of spaces concept was in Jac’s mind when a short time after his conversation with the helpful manager, he took a nice long walk through the location, capturing more of the poetry of the space in his mind and his cell phone and… yes, getting inspired by it.

Jac encountered many issues during his walk, a lot of them technical, but there was one central subject he was becoming aware of and which goes into the main structure of the story.

As Jac walked through the different areas of the location, choosing those with the potential of being the places where the different sequences will happen, he became aware of one particular aspect of his exploration.

He began his journey from the top, where he already decided the market place will be set, all the way to the bottom of the hills where many of the areas for the different sequences are located, including the possible site of the crucifixion.

If he sets the beginning of the film at the place where the thinks the crucifixion can be set, then the Crucified Three would walk from that point, all the way up to the market where they will be arrested to then be taken down to the place of the crucifixion, in other words, the film would be about their journey.

At the beginning of the film Yahel and her companions will encounter a group of people about to stone a woman and the Crucified Three intervene.

A few meters from the area that Jac thought could be the place of the crucifixion, there was some kind of hole in the ground. A perfect spot for a stoning. He envisioned the woman being dragged to the spot, pushed in there and about to be stoned to death when Yahel confronts the people. He imagined a pile of rocks on the side of the hole.

Is that where the film begins? Jac thought. Maybe something could happen before that scene. He looked back to where he was thinking setting up the crucifixion area at the border of a cliff with the view of a rocky hill on the other side. That could be a good starting point.

In this scenario, Yahel and her companions appear in the area from a pathway beneath the cliff and they come across three or four tall tree trunks, three of them empty, one has a crossbar hanging, nails on the extremes, blood around them.  Below the cross there are skulls, dogs feeding on bones, and an overall a ghastly sight and at that point Yahel has a ‘vision’.

A nice opening scene before the ‘stoning’ sequence, Jac thought.

Jac walked from the ‘crucifixion site‘, going pass the ‘stoning site’, not far from it there is a construction, normally used to keep horses, not a stable as such, but intended for that purpose. Jac saw the construction from the hill high above the area sometime before. He hadn’t seen it up close and he was curious. But now that he was in front of it, he saw its potential, as well as the problems. One of those problems is the total lack of a source of electricity anywhere near it, a problem if he were to do any shooting at night in that place.

Regardless, Jac was concentrating on the journey. The ‘stables‘ are on the road up to the market after the possible crucifixion site and the ‘stoning” area.

After arriving to the crucifixion area, or calvary, and stopping the stoning, Yahel and her companions will continue their walk by the path behind the construction, all the way up to a different area, one with trees. That’s where the encounter with the possessed man could happen, the Third sequence in the story, where Yahel and her companions confront a group of people who drag a chained man down the hill with the intent of getting rid of him. She proceeds to heal him.

After taking care of the man and giving the man’s family the means to help him recover, the growing group of young women, now 7 of them, continue their walk to the market.

The Crucified Three finally reach the market at the top of the walk, where Yahel will get into trouble because she picks up fights with slave traders, snake oil peddlers, religious zealots, while Judith and Magdalena take issue with the Romans killing one of them.

After the confrontation at the Market, the Crucified Three are taken down again, by force this time, all the way to the execution area, stopping first at the ‘stables‘ where the scourging of the three ‘seditious’ women and Yahel’s crowning will occur, followed by the sentencing, the carrying of the patibulum all the way to the hill of skulls and finally the crucifixion of the three women.

That’s a brief summary of how the story can go. The Crucified Three go full circle from the moment they arrived to the area until they agonize nailed up upon their crosses.

Thus, after the visit to the location, the basic story was settled. It is about what happens to the crucified three when they go to the market to acquire some supplies for their work of healing people, basically, like a road movie where the events come to them each step of the way.

In that way the story will not be a grouping of random events not connected. The journey connects them all.

Laters.

Really excited about the movie. Even with the low budget (unfortunately), I believe that it will be a milestone for those that enjoy crucifixion. Also, I think it has a potential to attract new members to the crux community.

A low budget film demands a lot of creativity. How to make the best production with the least of funds. In other words, where to put the little cash for best results. Tricky. I’ll discuss that in my next post.

In the meantime you can help bring up the available cash by becoming part of the production with very little.

You can join Patreon and get the updates on our projects, with great pictures and videos, here:

During the production of Seditiosa we will have exclusive posts, with pictures and videos at our Patreon page. We will also post videos of all the testing we’ll go through, one particular video will be when we build the crosses and we’ll have The Crucified Three becoming acquainted with the positions they will have during their crucifixion.

You can also help by watching our amazing movies over and over again, you just have to get them
