Jac Avila is the writer and director of Monxa Mala, scoring another winner for the BDSM horror genre that is his specialty. With enough deviltry to make the story believable, he once again assumes the role of the torturer. What is particular about this film is that Jac is really \u201ca director within a director.\u201d His on-screen persona is commanding the nuns to satisfy his will just as off-camera he is moving the players around on the stage, so to speak.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking of the nuns and novices, Monxa Mala introduces a talented group of female performers whose comeliness is a perfect fit for the dark evils of the dungeon. Their punishments will surely please BDSM aficionados. Make no mistake, however, there\u2019s more than just \u201ctie \u2018em an\u2019 beat \u2018em\u201d to this movie. It has psychological implications that reach beyond sadomasochistic themes. Let\u2019s take an in-depth look at all of this beginning with the characters that occupy the story.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Interesting analysis – especially the point about the ‘four images that dominate this film’, the ‘phallic’ Whipping Post, the ‘feminine’ Collar enforcing female submission, the cruel irony of them ‘resting’ on the Rack, the bubbling kettle of hot coals ready to give them foretastes of Hell …<\/span><\/em><\/p>Eulalia<\/span><\/strong><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

While Jac is very busy heating up the coals, sharpening the stilettos, setting up racks and wheels and other devices, running from TV station to TV station to give interviews about a bloody, not fake blood, subject, Amy is getting ready to direct her next feature, a horror film, of course. She’s even testing a monster of a camera.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
