Father Francisco Verdugo, the Inquisitor, has his own ambitions. He has his greedy eyes on the orphan heiress&#8217; properties, but he needs a pretext to steal them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A confrontation in the street between a group of girls gives him the perfect excuse to arrest Mariana and Francisca and enchain them in the horror chambers of the Inquisition, leading them to a frightful end as they are convicted of witchcraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed aligncenter is-type-video is-provider-vimeo wp-block-embed-vimeo wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Maleficarum\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/636313601?dnt=1&amp;app_id=122963\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; fullscreen; picture-in-picture; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\"><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt2131579\/review\/rw2759794\/?ref_=tturv_2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">From an important director to watch, unforgettable horror with a point, because it&#8217;s real&#8230;real history.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">MALEFICARUM<\/mark><\/strong> <em>was more than I had expected. Jac Avila, the director, has made an unforgettable and important film. The actors, especially Amy Hesketh and Mila Joya, totally sold it. Avila&#8217;s direction and the women&#8217;s performances made their plight horribly believable, completely real, and yet heroic. Several scenes are going to keep replaying in my mind. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Having the Inquisition torture scenes interrupted by the &#8220;reality show&#8221; testimonies (based on real witness documents from the historic case upon which the film is based), kept me from becoming numb to the brutality of what was happening. If the director feels as I do about the insanity of the Inquisition, he drove that message straight to the heart. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>But incredibly, this is also a love story, defiant love facing hopeless horror. And because this is real life historical horror, you can&#8217;t squirm out of it with that &#8220;it&#8217;s only a movie&#8221; schtick. It&#8217;s even made to feel like a documentary of sorts, and in my opinion, this is as real as a film about this subject can get. All praise to everyone involved for their determination to make it that way. This film does not pull its punches or make excuses. Avila is an important director, folks. Where can I see more? She has such a great figure! Thanks for information.<\/mark><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>The shots you are referring to are from a vacation Amy and Jac had in the tropics of Yungas, a nice hot spot three hours away from La Paz, the beautiful and green countryside where they shot <strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">The Perils of Jane in the Green Inferno<\/mark><\/strong> and other films.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When they arrived they went down to the river, got undress and went in the water. Jac took the opportunity to take some pictures just for fun. They are all great. We thought they would be a nice way of advertising our <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/stream.redfeline.com\">Streaming Channel<\/a><\/strong>&#8230; using the images of Amy enjoying the stream.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The few photos Jac took that sunny day are not available anywhere, Jac has them all in his computer and back up hard disks. Both of them act very good. I love them.<\/mark><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Camille started this adventure with Jac. When Jane, aka Amy, saw the film <strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">Martyr or The Death of St Eulalia<\/mark><\/strong> at a film festival, she was so impressed with Camille&#8217;s acting that she wanted to do the same, she wanted to perform in ways that are challenging, extremely difficult, obviously painful and yet incredibly beautiful. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She joined Jac for a decade of making movies, suffering all forms of torture, including the horrific torture over hot coals, one of the most extreme tortures she went through for the legendary film about the inquisition <strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">Maleficarum<\/mark><\/strong>. You guys better treat her good, after being in those painful positions for her art!<\/mark><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Dani is, indeed, suffering a lot for her art, but she&#8217;s not in any danger, just extreme and painful discomfort. She&#8217;s treated well, with all the care of the world and the consideration she deserves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She&#8217;s having a hell of a time this week as she suffers a form of impalement after having been whipped, nailed to the wood, whipped some more&#8230; Like Amy and Camille before her, she&#8217;s doing an amazing performance of <strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">The Body In Pain<\/mark><\/strong>. I haven&#8217;t use that term in a while. I think I&#8217;ll suggest we make a documentary with that title.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Back in 2017, after Amy left for the US to enter the world of academia, we released <strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">Justine<\/mark><\/strong> in theaters in Bolivia. Dani went to see it at the <strong>Cinemateca<\/strong> and was so impressed with Amy&#8217;s performance, not only Amy&#8217;, but Mila&#8217;s and Bea&#8217;s too, that she took her chances, contacted Jac and asked him to meet for coffee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the coffee place she told him she saw <strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">Justine<\/mark><\/strong>, loved it and that she would love to have the opportunity to work in movies like that. She appeared in many films since then, one very prominent is <strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">Monxa Mala<\/mark><\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before shooting that film she suffered at the <strong>Rack<\/strong> as a way of working out some details for the production.
