A few comments are coming our way, maybe encouraged by my previous post, maybe not. Both, positive and negative, as it’s always the case with ALL of the movies we ever made and all of the movies ever made by everyone else who makes movies. There’s not pleasing everybody, that’s the reality of this art and we know it. That doesn’t stop us from making more movies, all kind of movies, weird movies, sexy movies, crucifixion movies, torture movies, experimental movies, artsy fartsy movies… That’s what we do and we’ll keep on making them.\u00a0The Passion of Isabel<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0was produced with our\u00a0Red Feline Fan Base<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0in mind, all those folks who began following us when we released\u00a0Red Feline on The Cross<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0almost 20 years ago. That’s a long time for a production company to keep making movies and to have a loyal base that obtains our movies time after time after time. And it doesn’t matter if our films are the extreme low budget films like\u00a0Agent X<\/span><\/strong>, or the big production budget movies like\u00a0Maleficarum<\/span><\/strong>. Our fans are there to get them.\u00a0The Passion of Isabel<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0has already surpassed our expectations. Of course we would love for this movie to continue surprising us, like\u00a0Maleficarum<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0JUSTINE<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0keep doing. We shall see.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(\u2026) Red Feline made Justine then started talking about doing pure artsy stuff with no GIMP, and based on the last movie seems they’ve once again gone back to using Jac Avila as the torturer in the GIMP movies they do make. Maybe I’m the only one who still maintains that its not a role he’s good at… maybe I’m the only one who still cares… I don’t know. But put simply I don’t want to plop down money for a movie he’s the primary torturer in because nothing he does convinces me he has the women in any real peril whatsoever.<\/span><\/em><\/p>Dr Yuya<\/span><\/strong><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

There isn’t a\u00a0THEY<\/strong>\u00a0in our\u00a0Red Feline<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0productions who use Jac or anyone else. It’s Jac who makes the movies and decides who is in it and why, that was the case with Camille, Gabrielle, Jane, Mila, and now Bea. It’s different at\u00a0Pachamama Films<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>where there’s a big crew, three directors, two producers, a bunch of associate producers, large cast and so on. Jac has been playing the torturer even before\u00a0Red Feline on The Cross<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0and all the way until\u00a0The Passion of Isabel<\/span><\/strong>. Long before\u00a0JUSTINE<\/span><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Passion of Isabel<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0is Jac going back to his\u00a0Red Feline<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0roots, with one willing actress, some cool ideas, the benefit of a great location and lots of equipment, and that’s that. In the 20 years since we released\u00a0Red Feline on The Cross<\/span><\/strong>, that has been the norm for\u00a0Red Feline<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0productions. Jac tortured, whipped and crucified Camille, Gabrielle, Celeste, Jane, Mila and now Bea, in intense films like\u00a0Red Feline on The Cross<\/span><\/strong>,\u00a0Agent X<\/strong>,<\/span>\u00a0Fantom<\/span><\/strong>, the\u00a0Via Crucis of Camille<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0series, the\u00a0Seven Days on the Cross<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0series and so many more.\u00a0The Passion<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0is one more in the long list of\u00a0Red Feline<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0productions. Some people enjoy ALL of those movies, some people like SOME of those movies, some people do not care for any of those movies. The fact is that those movies were the bread and butter of everything we did all these years and now that we jumped into big budget productions with tons of GIMP in them, like\u00a0Maleficarum<\/span><\/strong>,\u00a0Le Marquis de la Croix<\/span><\/strong>,\u00a0Dead But Dreaming<\/span><\/strong>,\u00a0BARBAZUL<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0and so on, we can have other actors do the torturing, but it’s not that easy to find them and it’s very difficult to convince the actresses to submit themselves to nasty tortures at the hands of any other person than Jac. C’est La Vie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u200bWell that poster #3 is a piece of high-class erotic art, not surprising it’s attracting buyers (though the blend of soft colours makes me suddenly have a powerful longing for a box of chocolates!\u00a0)<\/em><\/span><\/p>Eulalia<\/span><\/strong><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Indeed, that still from the film is a high class erotic art, as well as all the images in the film itself. I find it fascinating that Jac can accomplish such great photography while at the same time acting in front of the camera. How does he know that the shot is working out ok? How does he know that they are not out of frame? That the lights are fine? I don’t really know. I did a couple of films with him, so many years ago, where I was in the tortured woman position, so I had the experience of working under those conditions, just me and him, me acting, him doing everything else, I know how difficult those conditions are, so I’m always amazed. He’s a great photographer and has a keen eye for the type of shots he wants to get; he sets the camera and then leaves it, hoping that it will capture it all. It is very difficult but he gets away with it most of the time. He’s probably the only one in the world that does that for a big, 90 minute production with tons of shots, with lots of acting, torture sequences… and all of that. I’m processing the VidCaps Jac gave me, lots of them, and each image represents ONE frame of the movie and each one of the ones I get is gorgeous. In each picture Bea looks stunning, her expressions mesmerizing, I, too, long for a box of chocolates!\u200b<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hey, Jac, hope all is well with you… pleasant surprise to see the new production “The Passion Of Isabella”…ordered and received…was able to view on my computer, though not DVD player… nonetheless enjoyed it immensely…. I see it was filmed entirely in your basement (lol!)….and you have a lovely new victim in the role…in any case, thanks for a great new production! one of these days I will make good on my threat to send a treatment for a film idea that you and\/or Amy might appreciate…be well<\/span><\/em><\/p>\u200bR<\/span><\/strong><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

I’m glad to hear from people that loved our films. I believe that most of the people that watch our movies love them, and that means ALL of our movies. And just to clear things up, understanding that the comment means it as a joke, the location is not Jac’s basement of course, it is the same location where we shot\u00a0Maleficarum<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong>,\u00a0Le Marquis de la Croix<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0JUSTINE<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong>.\u00a0The Passion<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong>is the last film we’ll ever shoot in that location. The place has been leased, for a long, long time, to a different sort of business. Still, it is used to torture men and women every single day of the year. It is now a TATTOO PARLOR. Indeed.\u200b<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>Ok, I have purchased and watched the Passion of Isabel and I am going to share my impressions of it. If you, a reader, wish to avoid spoilers, then please look away now. I will just say right upfront that there is not much positive to say about this sequence of moving images. This movie is an absolute insult to film making. A total abomination. There is no plot, not a single line of dialogue as far as I can tell, and it goes absolutely nowhere to the very end. Granted, Isabel looks pretty chained up, but it means nothing without any sort of context. Even the most rudimentary character development would have gone a long way to make her plight feel “real”. For goodness sake, if it is such a big problem to write a basic plot development script, then I submit my candidacy. I can write a script pro bono that will beat this by orders of magnitude. My advice right now is: do not buy “Passion of Isabel”. It’s a waste of time and money. I really wish that it wasn’t so.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\u200bMichael Max<\/span><\/strong><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Hmm. Anyone that knows about our\u00a0Red Feline<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong>productions, and many here do, knows that for the most part all of those movies do not have dialogue. The very first one,\u00a0Red Feline on The Cross<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong>, that rose to prominence back in 1998 and still carries some weight with audiences, has not ONE word of dialogue. There’s a plot, yes, the torture and crucifixion of a beautiful young woman, that’s the plot. I can say the same for all of the\u00a0Red Feline<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong>productions, like\u00a0Agent X\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>,\u00a0Aristocrux<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong>,\u00a0Seven Days on the Cross<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong>and so on. There’s some important dialogue in\u00a0The Passion of Isabel<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong>, in key parts of the movie, but the film is about the methodic breaking down of a woman’s body and soul through torture. That’s the plot. In our big production budget movies, there’s plenty of dialogue and plots and sub plots and character development, like in\u00a0BARBAZUL<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong>,\u00a0Martyr or The Death of St Eulalia<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong>,\u00a0Dead But Dreaming<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong>, and so on. Some people argued that maybe in\u00a0JUSTINE<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong>there was too much, particularly too much talk to the camera. I’m not going to engage in arguments about the pros and cons of the\u00a0Red Feline<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong>style of our movies, they are what they are and we have a strong following for them. I’m just going to give a big warning. THERE’S VERY LITTLE DIALOGUE IN\u00a0THE PASSION OF ISABEL<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong>, BEWARE! And yes, Bea looks absolutely beautiful chained up, whipped, tortured and so on and so forth.\u200b<\/p>\n\n\n\n
