This time Pícaro offered what I can describe as his Critique of our films. He raises some valid points which had to be answered with a touch of candor and perhaps an explanation of what motivates Jac and Amy to make the films they make and how they select the subjects.

Pícaro: Since there is a lull in the action until Maleficarum II really gets rolling, I thought I would send the “good stuff” message I mentioned a while back. First, though, let me get a bummer off my back. I am sorry but I have to say Olalla was a complete and total bust. I regret I funded part of it. The “production values” were of your usual excellent quality. However, the story was very poor. It struck me as a GIMP movie trying to be “artsy fartsy” Two little fairies dancing around giggling and slapping their knees, a large bald-headed fairly in a white outfit lumbering around putting records on the victrola and trying to get everybody to tango was almost humorous if it hadn’t have been so out of place. The crucifixion/whipping/burning scene that should have been the high point of the film was lame. Amy did her usual excellent work and Eric was, as always, a great whipper but the burning scene was too obviously fake. Just BAD all the way around. I’m not surprised it isn’t selling.

Margot: I would like to clear some issues raised in your email. Your comments on Olalla, for instance, are made from the premise that all of Jac’s and Amy’s films are made solely with the GIMP crowd in mind. That’s not the case. I don’t believe that the GIMP crowd alone would be sufficient to cover the costs of a high production values film like Olalla or Dead But Dreaming. In the other hand, Amy and Jac would like to engage a larger audience as well. I understand it can be tricky, but that’s the way it goes.

Visit the Red Feline Club
http://bit.ly/2k4LLwc

DOWNLOAD our Films
http://bit.ly/1JADqCK

Get any of our DVDs
http://bit.ly/1PpswWE

The Passion of Isabel continues with Isabel nailed, crowned, and ready for more torture.
